This workshop is designed for staff members of nuclear operators, regulatory bodies and technical support organizations (TSOs) from IAEA Member States in South East Asia, the Pacific and the Far East.

Purpose of the Workshop:
The purpose of this workshop is to give an overview of nuclear knowledge management (NKM) and the principles of its implementation in an integrated manner, as well as to share views and ideas on the development of safety competencies through the implementation of NKM. Country specific examples of the implementation of NKM will be introduced and discussed. The workshop will include practical exercises based on the IAEA methodology and good practices of Member States.
Qualifications:
Candidates should be professional staff members of nuclear operators, regulatory bodies, or TSOs, and should have a science or engineering degree, preferably related to nuclear energy.
As the workshop will be conducted in English, participants should have sufficient proficiency to follow lectures and express themselves in this language without difficulty.
Nature of the Workshop:
This activity was proposed by the Topical Group on Education and Training of the Asian Nuclear Safety Network (ANSN).
The workshop will include lectures by international experts, IAEA technical staff and national presentations. Practical group sessions will be organized during which participants will be expected to contribute by sharing their practices and future plans for implementation of NKM in their respective organizations.
Application Procedure:
Nominations need to be submitted first through the ANSN online nomination system (www.ansn.org). Subsequently, if required by the applicants’ authorities, the completed Nomination Forms should be endorsed by and returned to the IAEA through the established official channels (Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Atomic Energy Authority or the office of the United Nations Development Programme). They must be received at the International Atomic Energy Agency, Vienna International Centre, PO Box 100, 1400 Vienna, Austria, no later than 26 July 2013. A copy should be sent at the same time to Mr Wang Yan, the local organizer at RINPO, via email to: wangyan@rinpo.com. Nominations received after that date or applications which have not been routed through one of the aforementioned channels cannot be considered.
In case of technical problems with the ANSN online nomination system, nominations may also be sent to the Project Management Officer, Mr Ho Kee Kim , via email to: H.Kim@iaea.org, via the IAEA’s official email address (Official.Mail@iaea.org), or by fax: +43 1 26007 29218. The email/fax should contain the following basic information about the candidate(s): name, age, gender, academic qualifications, present position (including exact nature of duties carried out), proficiency in English, and full working address (including telephone and fax numbers and email address) to enable the IAEA to carry out a preliminary evaluation of the candidates.
Arrangements:
Nominating Governments will be informed in due course of the names of the selected candidates and will at that time be given full details on the procedures to be followed with regard to administrative and financial matters.
During their attendance at the workshop, participants will be provided with their accommodation, transport between Wuhan Tianhe International Airport and their hotel, lunch and a dinner banquet by the host organizer (RINPO). Neither the copying nor the shipment of accumulated workshop materials to the participants’ home countries falls under the responsibility of the IAEA.
The organizers of the workshop do not accept liability for the payment of any cost or compensation that may arise from damage to or loss of personal property, or from illness, injury, disability or death of a participant while he/she is travelling to and from or attending the workshop, and it is clearly understood that each nominating organization undertakes responsibility for such coverage. Organizations would be well advised to take out insurance against these risks.
